Whilst engine repairs and general maintenance is done with the boat in the water, it is extremely important that components of your stern drive and sail drive be regularly maintained. Sacrificial anodes within the engine need regular replacement especially for boats at marina berths, and in the case of stern drives, the gearbox seals, bellows, gear change linkages and gear oil should be attended to every six months.
All diesel and petrol engine servicing should be carried out at 100 hours or every 12 months to ensure trouble free boating. It is important that the cooling system is checked and the raw water pump impeller and zinc anodes are replaced, fuel filters inspected and replaced if required, and the engine oil changed. As part of services provided by Becker Enterprises we also include a general inspection of the engine and engine room for faults which may eventually cause costly repairs.
